GOMBAK - There is no issue of power struggle within the state government administration between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) if the coalition wins in the state elections this Saturday.

Selangor Umno chairman Datuk Megat Zulkarnain Omardin denied such claims which have been circulated on social media since yesterday.

He said the issue was intentionally raised by opposing parties who were trying to create discord between the PH and BN coalition.

"I can't help but laugh at their desperation and lack of strategy in attempting to create discord between BN and PH.

"This kind of distasteful politics is no longer effective and I have taken a clear stance that I want Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari to continue as the Menteri Besar of Selangor," he said during the Gombak Setia Perdana Arus Merah Kuning talk yesterday.

Yesterday, the social media was abuzz with rumours connecting him to potentially replacing Amirudin as the Selangor Menteri Besar.

Megat Zulkarnain emphasised that he has no interest in any position and his focus was directed on ensuring the unity government continued to lead the state of Selangor.

"I have clearly stated that I am not interested in any position be it the Deputy Menteri Besar or state government executive council member, as I only want to remain as a member of the State Legislative Assembly.

"Furthermore, I will continue to serve as the political secretary to Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi.

"This is because Zahid, who is also the Rural and Regional Development Minister can assist villages and rural areas in Selangor, especially in Gombak Setia," he added.

Hence, he advised the opposing parties to be more practical and not engage in such political issues, which people disliked.

"I have never even thought about getting that position (MB), in fact what we want is for the unity government to continue leading Selangor.

"We have agreed and as the Selangor BN chairman, I have repeatedly stated that we will support and ensure Amirudin as the MB of Selangor, as announced by the Prime Minister," he said.
