PERMATANG PAUH - Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate for Permatang Pasir state seat, Amir Hamzah Abdul Hashim, is confident that his coalition will sweep all three state seats in Permatang Pauh in the upcoming Penang state election.
He said that the people in Permatang Pauh can see that Pakatan Harapan (PH) has unfulfilled their promises, and that is why they will vote for PN in the upcoming election.
"What? Anwar's legacy? There’s no more here. Before becoming prime minister, Anwar was a leader who was outspoken and vocal in expressing his opinions.
"However, during his administration, Malaysians still did not see results. In fact, we see many lies. Not to forget, their promises are still unfulfilled.
"There is nothing interesting in his rule. In the past, he was an Islamic leader. But now, not anymore. He used to say he wanted to bring Islam, but now he doesn't.
"Anwar's character changed. We see now that many youth here do not support Anwar, because the pace shown by PN is very comprehensive, especially for the youth," he told Sinar Daily.
Amir Hamzah will be in a straight fight against Faiz Fadzil from PH in the upcoming Penang state elections, which will be held on Aug 12.
In the 15th General Election (GE15), Nurul Izzah Anwar, the daughter of Anwar Ibrahim, lost the Permatang Pauh parliamentary seat to PN's Muhammad Fawwaz Mat Jan.
This was the first time that PH had lost the Permatang Pauh seat since it was first contested in 1999.
