SHAH ALAM - A 29-year-old woman has died after undergoing unlicensed breast enlargement surgery at a home in Skudai.
The victim, identified as Chen, had initially planned to undergo a microsurgery to tighten her skin, a local Chinese daily reports.
However, the unlicensed beauty expert who performed the surgery convinced her to undergo breast enlargement surgery instead.
After the surgery, Chen suffered chest pains and was rushed to a nearby clinic.
The doctor at the clinic diagnosed her with excess anaesthetics.
However, her condition did not improve and she was later rushed to a private hospital.
Chen was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) on Aug 2, but she died the following day.
Chen's husband, Wong, has filed a police report and the police are investigating the case.
"On the subsequent day, my wife's health continued to deteriorate.
"Accompanied by a friend, she sought medical attention at a nearby clinic.
"The attending doctor indicated that her condition might have been aggravated by excessive anesthesia during the procedure," Wong narrated the deteriorating condition of his wife.
Iskandar Puteri district police chief Assistant Commissioner Rahmat Ariffin confirmed the incident.
