KUALA LUMPUR: With just four days remaining before the state elections, former Umno leader Khairy Jamaluddin has been reported to support Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate Datuk Harrison Hassan in the Jeram seat during campaigns.
The campaign was at Puncak Alam, Shah Alam, last night.
In a viral TikTok clip, the former Umno Youth Chief praised Harrison's potential as a strong contender for the seat, stating his leadership capabilities, extensive experience, dedication and educational background.
"Why? Because I have known him for over 20 years. We both entered Umno together, he was the Secretary of Umno Pemda at that time, and I was the Umno Youth Exco.
"... and from the very beginning, I expected that among our peers, Datuk Harisson would go far in politics," he was quoted from the video recording.
Meanwhile, in an update on his Facebook page, Harisson expressed gratitude to Khairy for extending moral support.
Harrison, the former Sungai Buloh deputy chief was expelled from Umno after announcing his candidacy for the Jeram state seat.
He is facing one-on-one contest against the Barisan Nasional candidate, Datuk Jahaya Ibrahim.
Previously, Khairy was also offered a position in the Bersatu Supreme Leadership Council if the former Rembau MP were to join the party. The offer by Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin was made after Khairy was expelled from Umno.
However, the former Health Minister requested "additional time" to consider the offer. - Awani
