SHAH ALAM - Caretaker Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari admits that he is not as great as previous Menteri Besar such as Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim or Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.

"I accept the reality that my name is not as great as Khalid or Azmin. That is the first reality that I must bear in mind.

"And secondly, we have to work as a team. The approach that I took was different from Khalid and Azmin. I rarely introduced myself despite the fact that I carried the name of Selangor and also the team," he said on the Keluar Sekejap (KS) podcast hosted by Khairy Jamaluddin and Shahril Sufian Hamdan on Monday.

He said that teamwork was one of the important elements that have become an important recipe to take on any task.

"I also put in priorities. I used to work with KJ (Khairy Jamaluddin) and the former Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail Sabri Yaakob very closely and even I also held several meetings with Datuk Seri Hamzah Zainuddin.

"I knew the priority at that time was to deal with the Covid-19 cases.

"Alhamdulillah in Malaysia, if we work diligently to avoid unnecessary controversies, people will appreciate it. Even if they don't now, they will when we're gone.

Elaborating on the highest number of votes obtained in the Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) election which allowed him to be appointed as the party's deputy president, Amirudin said it was not surprising.

"Before that, I ran for the central leadership council (MPP) where I got the highest number of votes," he said

He revealed that the menteri besar post gave a little advantage compared to now that there were numerous ministers.

"But I believe that party members chose by looking at commitment and duty because I started from the bottom.

"I slept together with them in the control room until I became menteri besar, representative of the people.

"So the attitude of being aware of myself as a nameless person had perhaps made me easily accepted by the grassroots," he said.
