BAYAN LEPAS - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has been invited for Tesla Motors (Tesla) headquarters opening in Cyberjaya at the end of September or early October.
In a cheeky way, Anwar made a request to Tesla's Asean chief office by requesting for Tesla Chief Executive Officer Elon Musk to join him as well.
"Musk's Asean chief officer met me ten days ago and informed me that they have procured a building in Cyberjaya to make it their office.
"She wants me to officiate the opening ceremony at the end of September or early October, I said thank you, but with one condition, I want Elon Musk to be with me for the ceremony," he said.
Anwar further said that Musk decided to invest in Malaysia for its stability.
"Just because of stability, sincerity and the coalition of parties, Elon Musk contacted my office and arranged a meeting.
"He also told me that he follows and knows my stories. What story? The stories I went to jail," Anwar joked.
Last month, Anwar, who is also the Member of Parliament for Tambun, had a virtual meeting with Musk to discuss various investments in Malaysia.
The new collaboration between Malaysia and Tesla would create tens of thousands of skilled job opportunities and further enhance the electric vehicle (EV) sector in the country.
Anwar had said that the jobs would be realised through the establishment of headquarters, service centres, and experience centres in Cyberjaya, Selangor, as well as collaborations in Petaling Jaya.
