SHAH ALAM - Perikatan Nasional's (PN) candidate for the Permatang state seat, Nurul Syazwani Noh has promised to highlight the issues of water shortages and floods in Selangor as the coalition attempts to wrestle the state from Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the upcoming state polls.
She said the PH-led government had failed to resolve the years-old matters, which prompted her to step in and prioritise them if she and PN win with a majority to form a new government in Selangor.
"In the Permatang state assembly, there are still many issues that the state government needs to resolve even though they have been the government since before. Among them is the issue of water shortages.
"Tanjong Karang Parliament is home to numerous villages, including mining areas and seaside towns. However, they need help with their drainage system. Without proper maintenance, the site is prone to frequent flooding. There are also other issues, such as land and settlement.
"This is not just in Permatang, this is an issue in Selangor; water shortage. So, if I am allowed to have a voice in the state assembly, it is certain that these issues will be highlighted and prioritised," she said during the Sinar Live programme entitled 'Permatang: Debaran Satu Lawan Satu'.
The session was conducted by Haizir Othman and was broadcast on all Sinar Harian platforms on Saturday.
Nurul Syazwani also shared her thoughts on the Selangor PN manifesto unveiled on Friday. She expressed that it was a comprehensive pledge that catered to the needs of everyone, regardless of background.
Nurul Syazwani, a committee member responsible for drafting the manifesto, stated that the concerns and issues raised by all members of society, including the youth and women, have been considered and addressed in the manifesto.
"For example, one of the problems in Tanjong Karang and northern Selangor is the municipal parking which is charged a fee and requires an application. In Tanjong Karang, many older people may not know how to use the mobile application, which causes problems.
"I mentioned this problem in the meeting and to the top leadership. As a result, yesterday, it was officially announced that parking fees there will be waived. This is an example of how PN hears the voice of the people," he said.
She added that various incentives were announced to fishermen and farmers, giving them opportunities to improve the economy, especially under the Permatang state assembly.
"It is evident that our manifesto not only addresses rural areas but also includes measures to assist young city dwellers struggling with housing rentals. Our manifesto is comprehensive and well-balanced," she said.
Nurul Syazwani is also confident that PN can win the Selangor state polls with at least a majority of 30 to 33 seats.
