SHAH ALAM - Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has said that the recent incident involving Gerakan president Datuk Dominic Lau, who was asked to leave the PN Best Mega Ceramah in Tasek Gelugor, Penang, was a misunderstanding.
Pas secretary-general Datuk Seri Takiyudin Hassan has already issued a statement apologising for the incident, saying that there was a misunderstanding and that it should not have happened.
Muhyiddin said that the incident was just one case, and that it does not reflect the relationship between Pas and Bersatu.
"Both parties are committed to working together in the PN coalition," he told a press conference after the launch of the Selangor PN manifesto here.
Takiyudin's statement said that Pas does not condone such disrespectful behavior towards the leader of a component party in the coalition.
He said that the decisions made by the party's top leadership should be accepted by members and supporters with an open heart.
He added that Lau's presence at the ceramah should have been accepted and appreciated as a guest, based on moral values and the principles of Islam.
He said that Lau should have been accorded with decency and due respect.
