KUALA NERUS - Barisan Nasional (BN) candidate for the Seberang Takir seat, Datuk Seri Ahmad Razif Abd Rahman, has urged Pas voters to vote for him in the upcoming state polls to ensure the Islamist party remains relevant in the area.
He said Pas' action to give way to Khazan Che Mat from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) to contest in the area only destroyed the Islamist party's dream of conquering Seberang Takir, as it has been a tradition that the area be competed between BN and Pas.
"It's a bit strange because, for the first time, a candidate (Khazan) who is not a local from Seberang Takir is contesting here.
"Pas must remember that if Khazan wins, Seberang Takir will forever sit under the Perikatan Nasional (PN). So, the history of Pas being the rakyat's representative here is over," he said when met at Pasar Teluk Ketapang on Friday.
He said this when asked to comment on Pas leaders' belief that they will win the Seberang Takir seat in the upcoming state polls.
Commenting further, Ahmad Razif, a former mentri besar, said that Pas voters and supporters must vote for him to enable the Islamist party to compete in the next election.
He said that giving victory to the BN candidate would allow Pas to conquer the area.
"I am confident that if elections are held again after this, Pas candidates will be nominated. So, give me victory," he said.
