KUALA LUMPUR - Police have confirmed receiving a report from a woman alleging a sexual assault involving a former minister.
Brickfields district police chief Assistant Commissioner Amihizam Abdul Shukor said the report was lodged on July 24 at the Sri Hartamas Station but it was later withdrawn by the complainant on the same day
"The police opened an inquiry paper regarding this case,” he told Sinar on Thursday.
When asked on the complainant's decision to withdraw the report, he said it was done with her wishes.
Previously, a police report on a former minister was circulated, claiming that a sexual assault act and obscene words was directed at a woman on social media.
The alleged incident was reported to have taken place at an office located at P-3-2 Plaza Damas.
Sinar was informed that the former minister had lodged a police report on the matter on Thursday, denying the allegations.
