SHAH ALAM - Caretaker Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari says he contributed more to the citizens of Selangor during his reign than Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali.

"To compare my term and his term, we spent around RM2.3 billion, and he just spent around RM1.4 billion. "The numbers and records showed that I spent more on the public," he said on the BFM Radio Podcast programme recently.

Former Selangor MB Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali was reported as saying that he was disappointed for nominating Amirudin as the state's MB previously.

The Selangor Perikatan Nasional chairperson also claimed that Selangor's performance has plunged ever since Amiruddin led the state.

Azmin, who was a political mentor to Amirudin, had left the position to take up a federal minister post following Pakatan Harapan’s maiden electoral win in 2018.

"So far, on economic issues and efforts to look into people's welfare, I have spent more than RM1 billion for the welfare of the public in the state," Amirudin said.

Amirudin believes he contributed more to the citizens of Selangor during his reign than Azmin.

"Only he is in denial, saying that he spent and gave more to the public. "But the numbers and records showed that I spent more on the public," he added.

Apart from that, caretaker Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Haji Sanusi Md Nor had previously claimed that Selangor's success was solely attributable to its location near Kuala Lumpur.

"Perhaps the message is directed at me, but he also criticises the work of my predecessors, Azmin and Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim. Sometimes the subtext of Sanusi's statements has proved difficult for others to interpret, undermining both his performance and the subtext itself.

"So far, the response to his statement has either been round applause or clapping his hand over his speech.

"I believe he is also attempting to downplay his contribution," said Amirudin regarding Sanusi’s statement.
