SHAH ALAM – Following a light banter on social media over debate between PKR vice president Rafizi Ramli and Perikatan Nasional’s Bachok MP Syahir Sulaiman, the duo today announced that the debate is on and will take place next week.
Bachok MP Mohd Syahir Sulaiman said that he had finally accepted the invitation by Economy Minister offer to debate after he received the green light from his superiors.
"The debate will be on the topic of country's economic affairs, with the title ‘Malaysia Lebih Baik’ (A Better Malaysia),” he said in the post.
He also said that that Rafizi would propose the format, moderator, date, and location of the debate.
Rafizi had also confirmed this via his Twitter account.
"I've been informed that Syahir has accepted my request to debate after receiving his superiors’ approval.
"A debate platform allows parties to showcase their views and offerings to the public,” he said.
Rafizi added that more information about the debate would be provided, but the date was set for Aug 9.
Yesterday, the Pas man declined Rafizi’s invitation and said that he was more inclined to take part in a discussion rather than a debate.
He added that it would be better to work towards serving the people and resolving the issues they face.
