SHAH ALAM - An elderly woman died after a fire broke at a senior care centre in Section 5, Petaling Jaya, earlier today.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department director Wan Md Razali Wan Ismail said in the incident which occured at about 12.13am, three of the department's officers, 11 personnel and two fire engines were deployed to the scene.
He said the fire had destroyed 30 per cent of the building.
"A total of 14 residents including the caregivers had managed to save themselves from the fire and escaped injuries.

"However, there was one victim who was in the room was found charred to death," he said in a statement, today.
He said the fire was put out by civilians before the team from the department arrived at the scene.
