KUALA TERENGGANU - The Terengganu Malaysian Democratic Alliance Party (Muda) has lodged police report against the Deputy Prime Minister, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi following a viral video on social media claiming there were bribery elements in the leader's political talks in Terengganu.

The police report was made by Muda representative at Kuala Terengganu District Police Headquarters at about 4pm yesterday.

Muda in a statement last night said the report was made to call for an investigation into Zahid's statement during a lecture at the Premier Sustainable Youth Generation gathering that was suspected to contain elements of bribery for young voters.

"In his speech, he mentioned to give an allocation of RM200,000 to all motorcycle associations in Terengganu as long as they (youths) join the blue and red waves in Terengganu on Aug 12.

"We condemn the act of using (ministry) funds as campaign capital from any government, especially when it is clearly mentioned by the Deputy Prime Minister, who is also the Minister of Rural and Regional Development," said Muda.

In this regard, the statement said, an investigation needs to be carried out to curb the alleged corruption throughout the state election campaign and Terengganu by-election.

"Although the campaign period has not yet started, his (Zahid) announcement a day before the nomination of candidates clearly contains elements of election corruption.

"Therefore, we urge the Election Commission to act proactively throughout the campaign period to ensure that there are no elements of corruption by any party," said the statement.

Previously, the media reported that the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development agreed to allocate an additional grant of RM100,000 to the Central Terengganu Joint Youth Association Development Board (Ketengah) for the purpose of developing the group's activities in Terengganu.

The development was announced during the Premier Generation Sustainable Youth (LesGU) gathering in conjunction with the rural caring (Sentuhan Kasih Desa) program at Bandar Al Muktafi Billah Shah in Dungun on Friday.

Also announced was an allocation of RM250,000 and RM200,000, respectively for the Malaysian Youth Council of Terengganu and motoring associations in the state.
