KOTA BAHRU -The nomination centre of the Perak Jubilee Hall here was in an uproar when the name of one of the candidates for the Kota Lama State Legislative Assembly seat was rejected.

It is understood that the application of Tan Lay Tho, 63, an independent candidate, was rejected due to not meeting the conditions set by the Election Commission.

This was due to the fact that her name was nominated by her husband, Ong Chi Lam, 63, who is from the Bunut Payong State Assembly seat and not from Kota Lama State Assembly.

The Kota Lama State Legislative Assembly managing officer, Izzuddin Ab Rashid announced the names of the Kota Lama state assembly candidates at 11.45am.
