GOMBAK - The nomination centre for Hulu Kelang, Sungai Tua and Gombak Setia becomes a hot seat as both parties contest its ‘heavyweight’ candidates.
Prime Minister, who is also the Pakatan Harapan (PH) chairman Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim arrived at the nomination centre here at SMK Sungai Pusu for the candidates nomination filing at 8am.
Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) chairman, who is also Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Mohd Noor and Umno vice president Datuk Seri Johari Abdul Ghani also joined the parade which started at the Sungai Chinchin bridge around 8.15am.
The parade was also joined by PH candidate caretaker Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari who would contest to defend the Sungai Tua seats that he won since 2008.
Meanwhile, Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and Arau MP Datuk Seri Dr Shahidan Kassim were also at the nomination to support the coalition’s candidate, Selangor PN chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali from Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) who would contest at Hulu Kelang.
The crowd also showed their support for Pas youth council secretary who was nominated for Sungai Tua seat while Gombak Setia incumbent Muhammad Hilman Idham (Bersatu) would defend the same seats.
The atmosphere outside the nomination centre was bright and cheerful, with over 5,000 supporters from various parties gathered at the compound.
Until 9.50am, the process of nomination centre was under controlled without any provocation with everyone adhered to the rules that set by Election Commission (EC).
Previously, EC has set the date of the state election on Aug 12th in the six states and would be executed simultaneously.
