JOHOR BAHRU - Three men riding on a motorcycle without helmets died after they lost control and crashed before being run over by multiple vehicles at the Johor Bahru-Ayer Hitam Road near the Tampoi supermarket here on Thursday.
Johor Bahru Utara district police chief Assistant Commissioner Balveer Singh Mahindar Singh said the incident happened around 11.30am when the three victims were heading from Johor Bahru towards Skudai.
He said it was believed that the motorcycle crashed before being run over by four vehicles that could not swerve away.
"Two victims died at the scene of the incident while one died when arriving at the hospital. The three victims were in their 30s and their nationalities were not identified as no identification documents were found," he said when contacted.
Balveer Singh said the drivers of the four vehicles did not suffer any injuries.
When asked whether all three victims were drunk while riding their motorcycle, he said he was awaiting the autopsy result.
All three victims were sent to the Sultanah Aminah Hospital here.
The case was investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987.
It was understood that the incident caused a several kilometre congestion on the road.
