SHAH ALAM - Former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is confident that the country can still be saved from the heavy debt burden.
He said, by knowing the real cause along with solid evidence and good planning, any problem faced by the country will be overcome.
"To determine what the disease is, we have to have certain signs and sufficient evidence for us to diagnose the disease or the problem.
"Then only we can plan ways to overcome the problem," he said when met at the 'Bicara Negarawan dan Agamawan Untuk Rakyat Malaysia' Town Hall programme at the i-City Convention Hall, here, on Tuesday.
He said this when answering a reporter's question as to whether the country can still be saved from bearing the heavy burden of debt at this time.
Dr Mahathir added that he was confident that Perikatan Nasional (PN) would be able to overcome the problem compared to the coalition government of Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN).
"I'm sure we can, but our government (now) is like a 'kakistocracy' government. Can't even say the word (difficult) " he said.
Last Saturday, Dr Mahathir when speaking at the 'Munajat Rakyat Kelantan Pakat Pertahan' programme at the Sultan Muhammad IV Stadium in Kota Bharu, Kelantan labeled Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as a 'kakistocrat' or one who does not know how to govern.
The eminent statesman said this was because Anwar only knew how to 'lie' and that situation can be seen every day.
