KOTA BHARU - Ahmad Deraman, a candidate from Barisan Nasional (BN), is ready to face former party man Tan Sri Annuar Musa if the latter decides to run for the Kok Lanas state assembly seat in the upcoming state elections on Aug 12.
Ahmad said this was because he had been working behind the scenes for a long time to help BN win in the previous general elections (GE).
"Although he (Annuar) used to represent the people here (in Kok Lanas and Ketereh Parliament) under the Umno ticket, this time is different as he is now with Pas," he told reporters on Tuesday, adding that BN has brought various developments after receiving the mandate from the rakyat in the previous GEs.
Ahmad said there is 'no need' for the Kok Lanas people not to continue giving the mandate to BN in the upcoming state polls.
"If we (BN) are given the mandate again, BN will provide the best service in defending the fate of the people in Kok Lanas," he said.
Meanwhile, Kok Lanas state assemblyman Md Alwi would not defend his seat in the state polls.
In GE14, Md Alwi won with a majority of 1,122, defeating Pas and PKR candidates.
