PONTIAN - Muar MP Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman has shared an unforgettable moment when the late Minister of Domestic Trade and Consumer Affairs, Datuk Seri Salahuddin Ayub, contacted him during the flood disaster in the Muar district.
Syed Saddiq, who was met at the residence of the late minister's mother in Kampung Serkat, Tanjung Piai, said that the late Salahuddin also extended much help to the residents of Muar.
"His contributions were too many. I remember when I served with him, one thing that he always reminded me of was to do my duty, win or lose, it is in Allah's hands and the people's.
"And one thing that I will never forget about him is that I didn't have to seek him out; he was the one who contacted me first to convey assistance for the flood mission in Muar. I didn't contact him; he contacted me first to ask what was needed," he said.
The Muda President, who once served with the late Salahuddin in 2019, said the late minister was also a leader who never ceased to impart messages.
"I remember when I served with him, there were many obstacles, but he always reminded me to focus on doing my work and not to overthink politics when serving together in the Cabinet.
"He was very concerned about the people's issues, and I can say that he was a friend of the struggle who had done a lot of good.
"For me, as a young person, this news is very difficult to accept, hearing the news suddenly," Syed Saddiq said emotionally.
