SHAH ALAM - Deputy PKR information chief Razeef Rakimin refuted former Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad's claim that the Unity Government is a kleptocracy, asserting that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has not amassed wealth through his position and has no corruption or abuse of power charges.
Deputy Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) information chief Razeef Rakimin said the current government has demonstrated excellence in just eight months as there is a decrease in the prices of essential goods.
"When he said that the present government is kakistocratic, lacking leadership skills but in just eight months, this government has demonstrated excellence.
"Prices of cooking oil, chicken, flour and many other basic necessities have dropped. Even when the prices of goods around the world show an increase, the government today tries to control the hike and maintain subsidies despite facing the global economic crisis," he said in a statement.
Furthermore, Razeef argued that Mahathir's speech actually satirises Perikatan Nasional (PN) as the most failed government in the nation's history.
He claimed Mahathir's relevance has diminished and the people have rejected him to the extent that he lost in the 15th general election (GE15).
Although Mahathir may feel proud of being picked up by Pas, whom he had previously criticised with abusive names, Razee
f said that Mahathir is being taken advantage of in the final stages of his life.
Razeef cautioned against trusting what Mahathir says, comparing it to some Pas leaders' previous statements.
