ALOR SETAR - Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail reveals that the police had to arrest caretaker Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor at a hotel in Kuala Lumpur at 3am after the latter refused to go to the police station to assist in the investigations.
Saifuddin said that the action was taken after Sanusi refused to cooperate when the police tried to contact him.
"Sanusi said I’m not doing my work. I am doing my work, we take good care of the Immigration Department, National Registration Department, and the police but when the police work, Sanusi gets angry.
"He said he was in contact with the police from 10 pm to 2 am. What was the communication? The police ask if he can come to the police station, Sanusi said if they want to arrest me, I don't want to go," he said.
Saifuddin said this in his speech at the Suka Menanti State Legislative Assembly Jelajah Madani held at the Taman Wira Mergong field, last night.
He insisted that Sanusi should not act in such a way, but instead should cooperate with the authorities.
"The police don't simply summon him for nothing. There are 30 million people in Malaysia, why are the police only looking for Sanusi? There must be a reason. The reason is that the Selangor Royal Council members have lodged a report.
"The Selangor Royal Council comprised prominent people including former judge Datuk Seri Mohd Zawawi Salleh and former Auditor-General Tan Sri Ambrin Buang. These are the chosen people that the Sultan of Selangor appointed to sit in the Royal Council. They report on matters that are insulting to the royal institution," he said.
Commenting further, Saifuddin said the Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah had warned politicians not to drag the royal institution into the political arena when dissolving the Selangor State Legislative Assembly.
In this regard, he said, the Armed Forces Council should review the awarding of the honorary rank of the Royal Malaysian Navy to Sanusi following the alleged statement made by the latter which was deemed insulting to the Sultan of Selangor as the captain of the navy.
"I want to tell Sanusi, the Sultan of Selangor is the head of the navy. Suddenly, he insulted His Majesty. It is time for the Armed Forces Council to review the honorary rank or maybe recommend it, that's how he looks because he disrespects the Sultan of Selangor," he said.
