YAN - Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim reminds a former Umno minister who left the party before the 15th General Election (GE15) and is now with the opposition to look in the mirror and stop acting like he is ‘clean’.
Anwar said this was due to a file which revealed that the former Umno minister had an unclean record and committed wrongdoings while administering the country but acted as if he was clean.
Therefore, he asked the former Umno minister to look in the mirror when accusing him and Umno president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi of being liars and pretending to be good Muslims.
"Look at your face in the mirror. Former ministers have texted me (told me) not to talk about corruption and governance, asking me to work.
"That’s why I talked to Elon Musk; Hong Kong tycoon Richard Lee and the world’s largest gas company, Aramco. That’s the result of us working as a team with ministers, government departments, officials and ambassadors for the country’s economy.
"So, this former minister is talking as if we don’t do anything (on the contrary) he is an Islamic fighter, a Malay fighter. I said look in the mirror, look at the records, look at the contract, how many lands you took, how much you ‘sakau’ (stole), watch your words,” he said.
He said this while speaking at the Jelajah Madani and launch of Kedah unity machinery at the Guar Chempedak Town Public Field here, last night.
Because of that, he said, it was better for Umno to be cleansed of former ministers who pretended to be clean but had a shameful record.
"I have seen the file, (they) talk loudly, went there as if he was protected. I don't care, I've already said even with Tun (Dr Mahathir Mohamad), I will fight what else with a lizard,” he said.
He said the former Umno minister should not be given a chance.
Anwar further claimed that the former minister received various rewards and built wealth and properties in the country and abroad but left Umno after not getting a seat.
"Not getting a seat is not a matter of policy, principle (but) a candidate issue. Let's say he stays (in the party), then Zahid gives a list of these people to become ministers, it’s not worthy at all to be a part of the unity government.
"It is better for Umno to be cleansed of such rascals," he said.
Anwar said he made the disclosure because he was sick of individuals who acted as if they were clean, when they were worse than a combination of parties in the unity government.
