MELAKA - Members of the deviant group known as 'Si Hulk' are still actively involved, particularly among a group of teenagers, believed to be active through social media,

Melaka Mufti Datuk Abdul Halim Tawil stated that they view the existence of this deviant teaching seriously, and is currently monitoring the situation and strengthening the enforcement by the Department of Islamic Religious Affairs Melaka (JAIM).

"Their network is underground and not openly revealed, but we need to investigate the impact of their teachings," he said after the Melaka Munajat program with Tuan Guru Abdul Somad at Dataran Sejarah in Ayer Keroh on Thursday night.

The program was held in conjunction with the Celebration of Maal Hijrah 1445H and was attended by the Governor of Melaka, Tun Mohd Ali Mohd Rustam, and approximately 50,000 Muslims from all over the country.

Abdul Halim emphasized that the state government and JAIM are in the process of publicizing the teachings of 'Si Hulk' as being contradictory to Islam.

Sinar reported on June 15 that JAIM arrested a man believed to be a member of the deviant group led by Suhaini Mohammad or 'Si Hulk', who insulted Prophet Muhammad SAW.

Melaka's Executive Councillor for Education, Higher Education, and Religious Affairs, Datuk Rahmad Mariman, stated that the 38-year-old man was arrested at a house in the Jasin district at approximately 8:30 p.m.

According to him, during the raid, his wife and three children were present in the house, and the individual admitted that they were preparing to leave for New Zealand with the founder of the group.

He added that the initial investigation also revealed that the individual, who originated from Jasin, was willing to quit his job in Melaka and leave the country to migrate and seek employment in that country, just to be with Suhaini.

In May 2021, the Johor Fatwa Committee declared the teachings and beliefs based on 'Si Hulk' or any other name or title associated with it as deviant, deviating from and contradictory to the Muslim faith, syariah, and Islamic ethics.
