Members of Selangor Royal Council urge Sanusi to publicly apologize

SHAH ALAM - Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md Nor has been urged urged to publicly apologise regarding the statement he made, which is allegedly insulted the Sultan of Selangor during a ceramah session in Selayang on Tuesday.

Selangor Royal Council member Datuk Emran Kadir stated that the apology should be made immediately as the matter has spread widely on social media.

"It is inappropriate for anyone to insult the royal institution of another state.

"We consider his (Muhammad Sanusi's) statement as insulting the royal institution of Selangor and questioning the appointment of the Menteri Besar that has been made," he said to reporters after filing a police report at the Shah Alam Section 6 Police Station on Friday.

Emran filed the police report together with four other members of the Selangor Royal Council, namely Tan Sri Ambrin Buang, Datuk Mohamad Adzib Mohd Isa, Tan Sri Mohd Zawawi Salleh, and Datuk Mohammed Khusrin Munawi.

Previously, the media reported that Muhammad Sanusi made statements during a series of ceramah that were alleged to have insulted the Sultan of Selangor.

Through a viral video believed to be from his ceramah, Muhammad Sanusi was also accused of belittling the appointment of the Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari.

Muhammad Sanusi's speech was uploaded on various social media channels such as YouTube, TikTok, Facebook, and Twitter.

Regarding the response from the Selangor Palace, when asked, Emran said that the Sultan of Selangor has not issued any statement regarding the issue.

He added that the police report was filed to allow for an investigation to be conducted and appropriate action to be taken.

"He (Muhammad Sanusi) should not question the decisions made by the Sultan of Selangor regarding the appointment of the Menteri Besar, whether it is appropriate or not," he said.
