KUALA SELANGOR - Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali has been challenged to compete in the seat contested by Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari in the next state election on Aug 12.
Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) information chief Fahmi Fadzil said if Azmin was ready to become Selangor Menteri Besar, he should have the courage to run against Amirudin.
"Wherever Amirudin competes, Azmin should fight for the same seat against the Menteri Besar.
"I will help (Amirudin) to ensure that we succeed in burying (Azmin) if he contests in Gombak State Legislative Assembly (under Parliament) or if he contests in Hulu Kelang, we make sure he loses there,” he said.
He said this while speaking during the Selangor Kita Arus Merah Kuning tour of the Bukit Melawati State Legislative Assembly on Wednesday night.
Last year, the 15th general election (GE15) saw Amirudin, who represented Pakatan Harapan (PH), won with a majority of 12,729 votes.
Amirudin won 72,267 votes, while Azmin, who also held the seat three terms ago contested under the PN logo, received 59,538 votes.
In the meantime, Fahmi who is also the Communications and Digital Minister said that the opposition was currently campaigning and harping on the sentiments of race, religion, and royal institutions (3R).
"You can say all kinds of things, but we leave it to the authorities to conduct an investigation,” he explained.
Therefore, he said the people should ‘punish’ the opposition by voting for PH on Aug 12.
"There is only one way, which is for the people to give a clear signal to reject PN and choose PH in the next state election of these six states,” he added.
