BANGI - States under Pakatan Harapan (PH) namely Selangor, Penang, and Negeri Sembilan, have been successfully managed, and in order to keep up the momentum of success, the voters need to make the right choice in the Aug 12 state elections, DAP vice-chairman Nga Kor Ming said.
He said the Selangor government has been led by PH since 2008 and at that time, the state reserve fund was only RM430 million.
However, he said after three terms, the state reserve fund had increased tenfold to a whooping RM3.4 billion, making the state the biggest contributor to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) at 25.5 per cent.
"This is an excellent record because the government has integrity, so there is no leakage.
"As the state prospers, the people also enjoy various benefits, from the cradle to the grave, such as free bus rides, scholarships, and free insurance,” said Nga, who is also the Local Government Development Minister, after going on a walkabout at Taman Tasik Cempaka in Bandar Baru Bangi here today.
As for Penang, Nga said that the state has become the country's major exporter despite being the second-smallest state with a contribution of 30 per cent, while Negeri Sembilan has achieved full employment with an unemployment rate of 2.55 per cent.
"It is crucial to maintain this momentum in Selangor, Penang and Negeri Sembilan. These are significant achievements,” he said. - BERNAMA
