KUALA LUMPUR - A total of 600 vouchers were given to residents in the Bandar Tun Razak parliamentary constituency in conjunction with the "Madani Carnival: Healthy and Caring” for them to undergo free health checks between Aug 1 and 30.
Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM) vice-chancellor Professor Datuk Dr Mohd Ekhwan Toriman said the carnival was aimed at creating awareness on the importance of looking after one’s health.
"You could see from the exhibition just now that many initiatives have been taken for residents in this area, such as health screening for the early detection of colorectal cancer, and all these are free,” he said when met after closing the carnival at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) here today.
The event, held as part of the HCTM UKM 25th anniversary celebration from July 1, 2022 to June 30, 2023, involved various programmes and activities beneficial for the people and the carnival was the highlight of the celebration.
Meanwhile, a visitor, Junainah Jenal, 51, said the carnival was a good initiative as it provided information on health.
"It is worth my effort coming to the carnival as it gives various types of information we need to know about health and healthcare. I managed to visit several divisions and undergo medical examinations because my hands are giving me problems,” she said.
HCTM medical officer Dr Noor Asyikin Jasni said among the interesting activities organised at the carnival were aerobics, an exhibition and interactive eSport.
"The organising of this carnival is in line with the HCTM slogan of Better, Faster, Friendlier in helping the community in this area,” she said. - BERNAMA
