GOMBAK - Northern part of Selangor is not the traditional stronghold of any political party and all parties have an equal opportunity to win in this region.
Selangor Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said he is confident that the collaboration between Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) will enhance their electoral prospects in the area.
"Basically, northern Selangor is not a traditional seat of any party. First, this area was won by BN. Then, in 2018, we penetrated this area with PH flag. It was only recently that PN (Perikatan Nasional) had gained an edge over there.
"I think the competition is still open to all contesting parties and we are confident with the new injection to BN, we will return to capture the seats under the spirit of the Unity Government," he told reporters in a comment on PN's efforts to capture northern part of Selangor ahead of Selangor polls on Aug 12.
He was met at Gotong-Royong Mega Parangi Aedes 1.0 and National One Hour Malaysia Clean Up 2023 at Batu Caves public field on Sunday.
Health Minister Dr Zaliha Mustafa was present at the ceremony.
Amirudin said PN's focus on capturing northern Selangor shows that the coalition is not confident of capturing the entire Selangor as they "just want to focus on that area to become a strong opposition".
"However, we do not underestimate any parties and will work hard. Machinery launch is done. Everybody is working hard for the next four to five weeks until the state election," he said.
