SHAH ALAM - Former Umno youth chief Khairy Jamaluddin has told DAP chairman Lim Guan Eng that he should have his "head and heart" checked.
Khairy said this on his Instagram story expressing his disagreement with Lim's statement that if the "green wave" (referring to Pas) takes over the state, it would lead to the destruction of Buddhist temples and the restrictions on non-Muslim lifestyle in Penang.
"I didn’t want to believe this news at first. But I checked and it is accurate.
"This is racial fear-mongering bordering on incitement and this is not coded dog whistling anymore.
"You think Malays are going to vote against you because we are all part of some Taliban "green wave”? "Get your head and heart checked,” he wrote.
He said Pas had expressed extreme views but Lim's statement could destroy the fabric of our nation.
"I just want to remind Lim that the supposed green wave would destroy the temples in Penang.
"This is the largest sitting Buddha statue in Southeast Asia. Guess where? Tumpat, Kelantan.
"The Hok is the biggest reclining Buddha in Malaysia, the second largest in Southeast Asia. Where? Tumpat, Kelantan.
"Do you still want to complain more about the green wave?” he questioned on his Instagram.
However, yesterday Lim claims statement was twisted abd released a statement to deny that he said "green wave” will destroy temples and deny religious rights in Penang.
He clarified that his speech in Mandarin was twisted by certain parties that some parties want to destroy Buddhist or Chinese temples.
"I’m disappointed that some parties are irresponsible, simply twisting the speech.
"Using the 3R issues of religion, race and royalty to garner votes was never in my thoughts,” said Lim.
