SHAH ALAM - Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has accused Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim of lying about Muhyiddin’s efforts to write off the loans of Felda settlers.
Anwar stated yesterday at a Felda Settlers Day event in Serdang that Muhyiddin's administration announced that it would pay off RM8.3 billion in Felda settlers' loans, but the action was never accomplished.
"Anwar has accused me of not resolving Felda settlers’ debt. This is a big lie. The settlement of Felda settlers' debts was already implemented during my tenure as Prime Minister," Muhyiddin wrote on his Facebook earlier today.
Muhyiddin referred to a response in Parliament on February 23, 2023, by the Minister in the Prime Minister's Department, confirming that the settlement of Felda settlers' debts had been carried out in 2021.
He explained that due to Felda's financial constraints, the PH-BN government was unable to continue implementing the settlement of settlers' debts.
Muhyiddin also added that former Felda chairman Tan Sri Idris Jusoh had made a statement on February 24, 2023, confirming that the settlement of Felda settlers' debts amounting to RM8.3 billion had been completed in 2021.
"I am not someone who enjoys lying and breaking promises. The one who lies and fails to fulfill promises is Anwar. With this latest lie, it becomes even more evident that Anwar is not suitable to remain as Prime Minister," Muhyiddin added.
