KUALA LUMPUR – Puteri Umno hopes the party’s grassroots leadership would consider candidates from the party wing to face the upcoming state elections.
Its chief Datuk Nurul Amal Mohd Fauzi said she had sent a list of candidate names with potentials but refused to reveal the states they were eyeing.
"Insya-Allah there will be (state election candidates from Puteri Umno). However, it’s not finalised. We hope the leadership would review and place candidates from Puteri Umno to contest.
"The list of candidates had two to three (individuals who) I think are prepared to compete at a state assembly level had been sent.
"We will wait for the top leadership’s consideration,” she said at the Puteri Umno Exco Meeting press conference here on Friday.
Amal said the preparations for Puteri Umno machinery to face elections were at 68 per cent.
She said some additions were currently being observed in ensuring the youth women vote sided towards the unity government candidates.
"Some works were done with the coalition parties in the unity government. We stress to the machinery to ensure it does not run from focusing on women voters under 40.
"The usage of social media was given focus as it represented a way to attract the youth,” she said.
She reminded the party machinery not to ‘set fire to their own home’ despite facing provocations in the state elections.
