SHAH ALAM - MCA and MIC should be involved in the Selangor polls campaign even though the two parties will not be contesting.
Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said the spirit of unity must be retained to help Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN) candidates win.
He said MCA and MIC will also be involved in the state government administration if the parties in the unity government in Selangor managed to be defended in the upcoming state election.
"We should respect the decision (of MCA and MIC not contesting), but they should also be involved in the (election) campaign and administration in the future.
"I say this because we are maintaining the concept and policy of unity which I consider to be an answer to the political uncertainty created in 2020.
"So the answer is definitely being developed, but we want many more people to be involved in it together. The more, the better, but the management and administration will be made," he said.
The Selangor PH chairman said this at the 2023 Selangor School Aid Programme Handover Ceremony at the MBSA Convention Centre, Section 13 on Friday.
Meanwhile, he also rejected the view that DAP was too confident that it could retain the seats it had won in the 14th General Election until there was no chance for MCA and MIC to contest.
"I believe that in any coalition, it is not a matter of who is confident or who is not, but we are still negotiating and so on and there is no issue of us leaving anyone out.
"That's why I am very open that they (MCA and MIC) need to be involved with us throughout the campaign and after we established a joint government later," he said.
