SHAH ALAM - Half of the candidates who will be nominated by the Malaysian Democratic Alliance Party (Muda) in the next State Elections will be women.
Its president, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said, Muda wants to bring forth at least 50 percent professional female candidates who have a good background and are highly educated.
According to him, it is one of the reforms that will be brought to reject the perception that Muda's existence is only about himself.
"Any decision regarding whether to contest or not is not my decision alone, but the candidates that are nominated will be the decision of the party's top leadership
"We have a candidate selection committee and I want to make sure we do it in a structured and orderly manner because our focus is to reform and train as many leaders as possible," he said.
He said this on the Sinar Live program 'Third Power or Kacau Daun' hosted by Haizir Othman which was broadcasted on all Sinar Harian platforms on Monday.
Syed Saddiq explained that he is ready to accept criticism because the party is not about him alone.
"In the end, we have to move as a team that reflects the real Malaysia, a Malaysia that has achieved the status of a developed country," he said.
