SHAH ALAM - Muda has criticised former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad over allegations that promoting a multicultural nation contradicts the Federal Constitution's.
Its president, Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said independence was achieved through unity of various races, transcending ethnic and religious boundaries.
The Muar MP also said Sabah and Sarawak who joined in the formation of the nation as partners also demonstrated their overall and inclusive commitment.
"Today, the people of Malaysia prioritise their shared national identity over any ethnicity," he said in his Facebook, today.
"They who are born today are proud to be called Malaysians first and not Indians or Chinese," he added.
Local media portals previously reported that Mahathir was alleged to be promoting a multicultural nation, which is contradictory to Federal Constitution's with emphasise on 'Malayness of Malaysia.'
He also questioned the stance of the Unity Government that proclaimed Malaysia as a multicultural nation.
