Cop injured in lorry crash at Tapah IPD guardpost in stable condition

The police personnel from Sarawak has been discharged from the hospital and was given medical leave.

IPOH - A policeman who was on duty at the Tapah district police headquarters (IPD) sentry who was injured when a container lorry crashed into the fence and guardhouse of the building yesterday, is now reported to be in stable condition.

Perak police chief Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri said the police personnel from Sarawak has been discharged from the hospital and was given medical leave.

Mohd Yusri said he visited the policeman yesterday and found that the victim had not sustained any serious injuries.

He also inspected the IPD Tapah along with the heads of the department to see the situation after the crash and found quite severe damage to the fence and guard posts.

"I have directed the IPD to lodge a report on the matter,” he told reporters after attending the state-level Hari Raya Aidiladha celebration here today.

Yesterday, Tapah district police chief Supt Wan Azharuddin Wan Ismail said in the 1.25 am incident the lorry driver was travelling from Kuala Lumpur to Ipoh when the container laden with tables and chairs skidded and hit the Tapah IPD guard post and main gate.

Wan Azharuddin said as a result of the accident, a policeman on duty at the guard post was rushed to Tapah Hospital after he suffered a broken front tooth and was injured in the mouth and left hand.

Police have arrested the suspect for further investigation. - BERNAMA
