SHAH ALAM - Analysis made by some researchers predicts the wave of Perikatan Nasional (PN) in the upcoming state elections will be bigger than the 15th General Election (GE15).
Pas deputy president Datuk Seri Tuan Ibrahim Tuan Man said the momentum of the state polls showed the wind of change of the people to continue to support PN.
He said one of the reasons why people supported PN was the cooperation between Umno and Pakatan Harapan (PH).
"In the past (before GE15), Umno members did not know that their leaders lied about the 'No Anwar No DAP' stance, so members took those words and voted for them in the election.
"The same goes to PH who supposedly did not want to cooperate with Umno due to some integrity issues, but in the end, they joined forces to form the government after GE15," he said.
He said this during the ‘Jelajah Selangor Baharu Kita Bangkit!’ programme held at Section 18, here, last night.
Tuan Ibrahim said that the lie sparked anger towards Umno and PH.
"When we talk about elections, it is the opportunity given to the people in a democratic system to choose a leader.
"It has been three days since the dissolution of the Selangor State Legislative Assembly and the state polls may be held in August, which means we have about a month to defeat PH and BN," he said.
He insisted that the wave of PN that happened was a manifestation and what people wanted throughout the country.
He said, who would have thought that PN was able to win 14 out of 15 state assembly seats and all three parliamentary seats in Perlis in the GE15.
"Kedah PN gained victory, as well as Kelantan and Terengganu. We expect that Selangor (PH) will fall into PN's this time," he said.
He said among the six state polls, the main focus of the coalition was Selangor.
"It does not mean that other states are not given attention, but the people see that the whole election depends on Selangor.
"If Selangor PH and BN fall, it is not impossible for Negeri Sembilan and Penang too," he added.
