KUALA LUMPUR - The Agency for Foreign Films and Performances of Foreign Artists (Puspal) will reject All Apology Tour performance applications from controversial comedian Jocelyn Chia and her friend Chrissie Mayr.
The agency, which is part of the Communications and Digital ministry said it is scheduled to take place in the capital city on August 26.
"Be advised that any entry for foreign artists or foreign film filming in Malaysia must be submitted to Puspal for evaluation before being considered for approval."
"Any publicity and promotion as well as ticket sales cannot be held before permissionis given to organise the programme from the authorities, including a letter of approval from Puspal," it said in a statement today.
Puspal said for further information on the performance criteria for overseas artists, they could visit www.kkd.gov.my or contact Puspal at 03-89115355/5384 or email puspal@kkd.gov.my.
Previously, a post by the owner of the Instagram account @chrissiemarypod on the Apology Tour performance at Live House Kuala Lumpur - Jocelyn Chia and Chrissie Mayr went popular on social media.
However, it is unclear whether the show's poster is simply a provocative 'parody' or not.
Chia recently infuriated Malaysians by making the tragedy of the loss of Flight MH370 into a comedy in a concert in the United States.
Mayr further worsened the situation by publicly endorsing Chia and insulting Malaysians on social media. - AWANI
