JOHOR BAHRU - "If you miss being the opposition, then go join the opposition party today," said Umno Youth deputy chief Mohd Hairi Mad Shah in response to Damansara MP Tony Pua's recent comments.
He said Tony Pua who is also a former DAP publicity secretary, was asked not to make statements that could 'disrupt' the Unity Government today.
"Umno Youth Chief (Dr Muhammad Akmal Salleh) has already given an answer, and I respect it, but I saw how Tony Pua's statement had made everyone uncomfortable.
"Sometimes when we are on stage, we forget or overlook the fact that BN had accepted someone from Pakatan Harapan (PH) to be the Prime Minister.
"Therefore, all parties are expected to take care of each other's sensitivity, forget about old disputes, and move forward to help each other strengthen the national economy," he said in a press conference in conjunction with the launcing ceremony of the Johor Cooperative Construction Grant today.
Last Friday, Tony Pua 'suddenly' called BN, which is now with PH in the Unity Government, a 'corrupt coalition'.
He said it during the DAP Fundraising Dinner at the Petaling Jaya City Hall compound.
In fact, he had called Bersatu, another Malay nationalist party, the same.
Meanwhile, Hairi said his party respects the Rulers's request to form a Unity Government.
"We respect the institution of the Rulers and the order from the Yang di-Pertuan Agong to form the Unity Government.
"This is a warning to Tony Pua: if you miss being in the opposition, you can be their (opposition) spokeperson, and there are many more 'vacancies. Go there to make negative comments about the government and so on," he said.
