SHAH ALAM - A university-style learning system should be adopted for Form Six students, with the teachers providing guidance during teaching, giving group assignments, fieldwork, tutorials, and quizzes.

Tokoh Pendidikan Negara' Tan Sri Alimuddin Mohd Dom said the rules system was different for Form Six in terms of learning methods and ethics while at school.

"Teachers play a role in ensuring students are not tied to the same education system as they had in lower secondary school because the methods used were completely different.

"They also don’t need to wear uniforms similar to high school students, as we know that Form Six is the next step before university; they don’t need to limit their attire," he said when contacted on Sunday.

Alimuddin added that he hoped for a change in the system that would enable students to master knowledge or a syllabus in line with what would be learned in universities.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim said on Saturday that the atmosphere of Form Six should be changed as it is a post-school programme like the Matriculation Programme.

Anwar said many Form Six students complained about the rules and culture and requested that they be changed in the previous dialogue sessions.
