PUTRAJAYA - Former DAP Publicity Secretary Tony Pua will not be nominated in the next state polls, said the party's Secretary General, Anthony Loke.
Loke further added that Pua himself gave up the parliamentary seat he held in the last 15th General Election (GE15).
"There is no question that Pua will compete. We have no intention of nominating him, and he is also not interested (to contest). In fact, he himself gave up his parliamentary seat.
"So, I don't know why there is a question about him competing. No!", he stressed at a press conference after officiating the 2023 National Sailors' Carnival here on Sunday.
Last Friday, Pua who is also a former Damansara MP called Barisan Nasional (BN), which is now with Pakatan Harapan (PH) in the Unity Government, a 'corrupt alliance'.
Pua said this while speaking at the DAP Fundraising Dinner at the Petaling Jaya City Hall grounds.
The allegation invited various reactions, including from Loke who thought Pua should not issue statements that were offensive to any of the main coalition partners in the Unity Government and insisted that Pua's statement was in an individual capacity.
Meanwhile, Umno Youth has described Pua's statement as rude and urged DAP to take action against him, whileUmno Secretary General Datuk Asyraf Wajdi Dusuki insisted that Pua not be nominated in the next state elections. - Awani
