PUTRAJAYA - Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) vice-president Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad has described the lawsuit against former Ampang MP Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin as a justifiable decision.

Nik Nazmi highlighted that the lawsuit is in accordance with the recently enacted Anti-Party Hopping Act.

"We view this as a positive decision, given that the Anti-Party Hopping Act has been approved.

"We firmly reject the practice of party hopping. Therefore, we urge Zuraida to comply with the court's ruling and pay the stipulated fine," he stated during a press conference addressing the Peninsular electricity tariff adjustment today.

Earlier reports indicated that the High Court had ordered the former PKR vice-president to compensate the party with RM10 million for violating the terms of the party bond.

The lawsuit was filed by PKR's secretary-general, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, in September 2020.

During the trial, Saifuddin informed the court that Zuraida had willingly signed the party bond without any coercion.

However, Zuraida argued that she had been forced to sign the document without being given an alternative choice, just a day before the nomination day for the 14th General Election (GE14).
