KUALA LUMPUR - The Unity Government’s aim of winning at least 50 seats in Selangor for the upcoming state election is realistic and achievable, Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari said.

He said the target was attainable with the combined strength of Pakatan Harapan (PH) and Barisan Nasional (BN).

"Our realistic target is to win two-thirds of the seats in Selangor. It is doable and reachable if we combine the votes from PH and BN.

"This is the time to convince the grassroots from both sides (PH and BN) to work together and secure a win for the super coalition (Unity Government) and ensure peace and stability in Selangor,” he said.

He was speaking to reporters after performing Friday prayers with Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and other congregants at the Bandar Tun Hussein Onn mosque in Cheras here today.

Amirudin was responding to views thrown by political observers and the opposition that PH and BN’s target of winning 50 out of the 56 state seats at stake in Selangor was not realistic.

Sultan of Selangor Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah today consented to the dissolution of the 14th Selangor State Assembly, two days before the expiry of its term, to pave the way for state elections to be held. - BERNAMA
