SHAH ALAM - Perikatan Nasional (PN) chairman Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who claimed that the government is facing a leadership and financial crisis, or a double crisis, aims at diverting the people's attention from his past story when he was prime minister.

The Natural Resources, Environment and Climate Change Minister Nik Nazmi Nik Ahmad said the Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu) president was actually one of the main pioneers of the crisis before.

The Setiawangsa MP explained that it was clearly proven that the Pagoh MP was involved in suspending the Parliament session during the 2021 state of emergency due to Covid-19 pandemic.

"At the same time, the PN government also shamelessly claims that the Emergency Ordinance will only be lifted in July 2021, even though the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah has expressed disagreement.

"PN themselves refused to join the Unity Government after the 15th General Election (GE15).

"The opposition actually refuses to end the 'leadership crisis' that they created but wants to blame Pakatan Harapan (PH)," he said on Facebook today.

Nik Nazmi stressed that the government has been trying its best to deal with the cost of living crisis since day one.

He added that it included protecting the low-income (B40) and middle-income (M40) segments from increasing electricity prices compared to the previous government, which acted otherwise.

"The 2023 budget that was approved early this year includes tax exemptions that benefit the often forgotten middle class group.

"The government also managed to attract billions of ringgit in investment from multinational companies such as Amazon Web Services (AWS) and Tesla.

"We are working on new economic activities such as increasing the production of renewable energy (RE) and cross-border trade," he explained.
