SHAH ALAM - There are more pressing issues in the health sector that could be brought up in Dewan Rakyat instead of the issue of female nurses' uniforms being too tight.
Muar Member of Parliament Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman said among the issues that needed attention from Dewan Rakyat was the shortage of nurses, with one nurse having to treat 454 patients at one time.
"In fact, there are also more than 20,000 contract doctors with no job security, in addition to a shortage of 2,500 psychiatric doctors nationwide.
"The most noticeable issue is the overcrowding at wards in government hospitals, including the main zone and the emergency zone, and poor and outdated clinic facilities," he said on Facebook today.
He also suggested all MPs look for a solution at the base level.
Kuantan MP Wan Razali Wan Nor, during Dewan Rakyat's session on Thursday, questioned the dress code of female nurses in government clinics and hospitals, which he claimed was tight and considered non-Syariah compliant.
He claimed that many female nurses who work in government health facilities dress tightly, following the western countries' dress code that reveals their body shape and does not follow the syariah.
