PAPAR - A headless and armless body of a woman was found at Kampung Sapat River, here, today.
The body was found stuck on tree branches near the river about 10.30am.
Papar district police chief Deputy Superintendent Kamaruddin Ambo Sakka said he was notified of the body’s discovery by the citizens.
"Investigations at the location found a body floating on the surface of the river stuck on tree branches near the riverbed.
"Firemen were contacted to bring the body on land. Investigations found the body was of a woman without any clothes," he said.
The body was found in a mutilated form with her head and both arms missing with only her right leg remaining from the knee and above,” he said in a statement.
He said the cause of death was not identified yet and the case had been declared as a sudden death.
It was estimated that the body belonged to an individual aged between 30 and 40 years old, and the victim had likely passed away approximately one week ago.
"The woman’s identity has not been identified and as of now there are no missing persons reports received by the police,” he said.
Kamaruddin urged the public to come forward to the Papar district police headquarters (IPD) if they have any information about missing family members, neighbours, or friends in order to help identify the body.
The body was brought to the Papar Hospital for post mortem. The victim's heirs could call investigation officer Sergeant Mustifin Wahid at 014-2030071.
