PETALING JAYA - CelcomDigi Berhad (CelcomDigi) has launched a new feature allowing its customers to report scams or fraudulent activities through their customer call centers.
This initiative aims to provide a more convenient and efficient way for customers to take action against scams.
"As a responsible business, CelcomDigi is committed to creating awareness, ensuring compliance, and leveraging technology to combat cybercrimes and protect Malaysians from fraudulent activities.
"The company has included a "Report A Scam" option in its Interactive Voice Response (IVR) system, accessible through the customer call centers.
"Customers can dial 019-6011111 for Celcom or 016-2211800 for Digi to report scams immediately," the mobile service provider said in a statement today.
Once customers choose to report an incident, they will be presented with two options.
For scam cases that do not involve their bank accounts, such as SMS spamming, scam calls, suspicious links, or fraudulent product advertisements, customers will be guided to file a report online.
On the other hand, for scam cases involving their bank accounts, customers will be directed to dial 997 and report it to the National Scam Response Centre (NSRC) for further action.
"Customers can also report scams directly through the Digi and Celcom websites.
"These efforts are part of CelcomDigi's ongoing commitment to safeguard its customers and promote a safer information ecosystem," the statement further read.
In addition to the scam reporting feature, CelcomDigi has collaborated with CyberSecurity Malaysia (CSM) and the Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation (MCPF) to launch the Jelajah Anti-Scam Kebangsaan 2023 (JAS23).
This nationwide awareness roadshow aims to educate Malaysians about different scam tactics and equip them with knowledge and tools to prevent falling victim to scams.
As part of the awareness campaign, CelcomDigi has published a simplified anti-scam booklet and other educational materials.
The booklet provides information on common scam types, tips to identify scams, and reporting guidelines.
Malaysians can also access internet safety tips, guidebooks for parents and children, infographics, and video series on the Safer Internet portal.
They can also learn more about scams and frauds from the Kekal Selamat and Awas Always webpages.
CelcomDigi remains committed to arming society against scams and protecting its customers by fostering continuous awareness and providing the necessary resources to prevent scams and frauds.
