SHAH ALAM - Umno Youth chief Dr Muhamad Akmal Saleh respects the decision of former BN secretary-general Tan Sri Annuar Musa who has rejected the offer to come back to the party.
He said Umno Youth's proposal for the party to consider opening its doors to leaders outside the party was welcomed by president Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi during the Umno General Assembly (PAU).
"Annuar's speech refusing the invitation (to join Umno) had gone viral and he decided to join Pas. That's his right and we respect that.
"We believe that since he was appointed as senator and minister and was given the chance to become an MP representing the party, surely there would be a multitude of benefits for Tan Sri and those around him," he said in a Facebook post on his page on Monday.
Dr Akmal expressed his gratitude to Annuar and all members for their contributions to the party.
He added the youth leadership line up will remain faithful in towards Umno's struggle.
"Leaders come and go, Insya-Allah for us in the youth line-up who have never held a major position like Tan Sri (Annuar) will remain loyal and build our 'home' that served us a lot.
"We will build it with the spirit that Tan Sri once entrusted to us youth to remain loyal and serve, to take care of our home ," he said.
