SEREMBAN - Former Umno supreme council member Tan Sri Annuar Musa has claimed that over two million Umno members have quit the party since the 2013 General Election.
He made the claim at a ceramah organised by Perikatan Nasional in Senawang, today.
He said Umno is no longer the party that looks after the interests of the nation and country and it has lost its position as the preferred choice of the people.
"It had turned into a party that looks after the interests of individuals, looks after the interests of groups and factions and is now busy looking after and being a sweeper for DAP," said the former Ketereh Division Umno chief as reported in Harakah Daily.
The Muafakat Nasional president said it was not an easy to quit Umno but: "I decided not to return to Umno and continue with my fight.
"I just want to invite us to think with a calm heart, with a noble soul about our choices in the political fight, so that we choose the right path.
"Although I know that my 50 years in Umno was also based on my belief in Umno at that time, Umno is expected to be a party that will support the unification and unity of the ummah and the people, not to be a party that leads the division among the ummah of the people in this country," he said.
