KUALA LUMPUR - Puteri Umno aims to attract more young voters in Kelantan for the upcoming state polls.
Its chief Datuk Nurul Amal Mohd Fauzi said the Puteri wing will be discussing this with the Umno Supreme Council (MKT) as well as Umno Kelantan Communication Chairman Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakob.
"Kelantan has a very different political geography. Until now, there has not been much development.
"However, we need to make sure we will achieve victory in the upcoming state elections," Nurul Amal told Sinar Daily earlier in conjunction with the 2023 Umno General Assembly.
The three-day assembly, which kicked off on June 7, is held at the party's headquarters at Dewan Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur World Trade Centre (WTC).
She further explained that Puteri Umno will discuss with the Supreme Council the best solution to attract young voters in Malaysia.
When asked about the Puteri Umno wing seat allocation for the state polls, she said discussions were ongoing.
"However, I am happy to say this wing has a lot of professional youth, and I believe there is a huge chance for Puteri Umno to compete in the state election.
Kelantan, along with Kedah, Selangor, Terengganu, Penang, and Negeri Sembilan, are due for state elections this year.
This was following their respective Menter Besari’s decision not to dissolve the state assembly when the parliament was dissolved to pave the way for the 15th General Election (GE15) last year.
